If It Had not been For the Lord.

Where would i be if the Lord was not on my side! If the Lord had not been on our side, where would we be! How would we have overcome? How would we have got this far? What would we have become? Have you ever sat down and meditated on the goodness of God, Especially during the outbreak of COVID pandemic, many people lost their loved ones, many lost their lives, but you and I are still alive! with so much suffering, people battling with different diseases, poverty, pain, misery and the struggle we go through in life and morover what is happening in the world today. How have we survived in such tremendous times, in the darkest moments of our lives, how come we still here today! It has been GOD!

Psalms 124:1-5 says “If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, When men rose up against us, Then they would have swallowed us alive,
When their wrath was kindled against us, then the waters would have overwhelmed us, the stream would have gone over our soul. Then the swollen waters would have gone over our soul.

Indeed breathren it has been the Lord who has been on our side. God has been right behind us, infront of us, around us and with us! That we are not consumed!! What makes you and i better than those who lost their lives? Nothing! We are all the same but it has been the Lord ‘ s grace and mercy. We would have been gone! COVID would have killed us, most of us even caught COVID but we did not die, we had the symptoms, yes we were even hospitalised but we did not die, we still recovered from COVID.

Or may be it wasn’t COVID, may be you were going through a tunnel, a difficult situation, that you didnt see yourself coming out! And you lost all hope! May be it was a diagnosis of a terminal illness you’ve been battling from. May be the pain of losing a loved one and so much more, there is so much to name from but we all go through different challenges in life. Our circumstances may be different but they affect us on a daily basis, whether mentally or emotionally. We feel abondoned, rejected, lonely, depressed, worried etc. But these situations refer to the waters David was talking about that would have swallowed us! They would have gone over our souls to kill us!

However in the same Psalm David says Psalm 124: 6-8 Blessed be the Lord, who has not given us as prey to their teeth, our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers, the snare is broken, and we have escaped. Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

So you see, yes you may have gone through all these difficult moments or they may be current in your life today but they have not destroyed you or consumed you! Yes you may be broken but you are not utterly ruined! For it has been the Lord who has not given you over to be destroyed, He has not given you over as prey to the enemy’ s teeth. God has caused you to escape! It could have been you and I, we wouldnt have survived but GOD! God broke the snare of the fowler and caused us to escape, its the fact that we are still alive today! So if you breathing well and are not on oxygen , you can eat! You can still get up and dress up, and you were discharged from the hospital. Even when your enemies did not overcome you! It has been the Lord on your side!

Our help comes from the Lord, He is not blind to our pain, sorrows and tears, He knows everything we going through and so He makes away to deliver us and to save us. Just because the problem is their it doesn’t mean that it will last forever. There is time for everything. Lets focus on the goodness of God and see how far He has brought us, because if It had not been the Lord on our side we would have been consumed. So lets choose to praise God and trust Him. He works in mysterious ways and always protects us even when we can’t see or understand.
